Competition: Australia Law Students’ Association x Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot 2025 (Acting Solicitor)
During the winter break, I represented the University of Tasmania in the ALSA IHL Moot as the acting solicitor of the team. The problem question required us to consider the complex issues of IHL in the context of the war crimes of murder and torture.
I honed my skills of interpreting and applying the Geneva Conventions, Additional Protocols, as well as the principles of individual criminal responsibility under international law.
As the team’s solicitor, I was primarily tasked with conducting detailed legal research on IHL, which included research on treaty interpretation, customary international law, as well as international criminal jurisprudence.
